JX Ranch

A 7,000 acre working cattle ranch in northeastern New Mexico

JX Ranch is a 7,000-acres Working Cattle Ranch located in the northeastern part of New Mexico, along the rugged Caprock.

Ride and experience life on a cattle ranch. Help gather and move the herd of some 450 steers to new pastures, or ride through the herd daily to check on them. Then we make a circle checking fences and waters. Afternoons may be spent fixing or building fences, putting out salt and mineral for the cattle, or whatever else needs done that day. If you would rather relax at the cabin or take a drive in the after-noon, there are two lakes nearby, as well as a few sites of interest, such as the American Quarter Horse Museum, Billy the Kid Museum, Palo Duro Canyon and others.

The JX Ranch is a working cattle ranch, and not a "dude" ranch.

We ask that Guests have some riding experience. On a typical day, we ride for about 3-5 hours in the morning. Our horses are gentle and well-mannered ranch geldings, but they are not dude horses. Some of the country is open rolling - along the Caprock it gets more rugged. You must be able to guide and be in control of your horse at all times.
